Olatz Mompeo is a Geneticist with a particular interest in nature, nurture, and how they help our health. After finishing her BSc (Hons) Genetics in 2012 she came to the UK to complete an internship at the Epidemiology Department at the University of Aberdeen, where she became very passionate about overall health determinants and outcomes. Following her passion in health development, she completed with distinction an MSc in development psychiatry at the Social, Genetic and Developmental Psychiatry Centre at King’s College London (KCL). After finishing the masters she got awarded with a Chronic Disease Research Foundation scholarship to pursue a PhD in Genetic Epidemiology in the Department of Twin Research and Genetic Epidemiology in KCL, focusing on nutrition, genetics, gut microbiota and chronic health. Olatz joined OPC with the objective of applying her coding and research skills to one of the greatest datasets in the world, pursuing her dream of making an impact on the health care system.
