Deb Macfie, RN BNSc Post Grad Cert Clinical Redesign

Deborah joined OPCA in June 2021 following an international career in cardiology and respiratory nursing. Deborah has managed clinical teams in Saudi Arabia, United Kingdom and Australia. Deborah is passionate about improving outcomes for patients with respiratory disorders including asthma, COPD and interstitial lung disease. She has a research interest in Trachbronchomalacia and overlap disorders.

Deborah completed her undergraduate degree at James Cook University in Queensland in 1998 and has recently completed post-graduate studies in clinical redesign through the University of Tasmania. She is currently undertaking a Master in Nurse Practitioner and a Master in Advanced clinical nursing both due for completion in 2022.

During her time with OPCA, she has led on the Difficult to Treat Asthma Quality Improvement for Respiratory Physicians in the private practice and will continue to drive the difficult to treat asthma audit in primary care. During her time with OPCA, she has been instrumental in the establishment of quality standards in the DTT audit. Deborah is always striving to identify new research streams for respiratory patients.

She is a Board member with Alpha1 Australia. She holds memberships with TSANZ, RCN, APNA, ERS and is on the spirometry steering committee for QHSTP.
