Alexander (Sandy) Evans, MSc

Sandy joined OPRI in 2019, having previously completed work at Keele University School of Medicine looking at the effects of COPD in patients with advanced musculoskeletal pain. Prior to this, Sandy studied at the University of Glasgow, receiving an MSc in Stratified Medicine. Sandy's early work at OPC involved the expansion and development of the COPD quality improvement program offered to primary care within the UK, reporting information back to practices on their current COPD populations and identifying their most critical patients whilst offering suggestions for management in line with national/international guidelines. His research work in OPRI is both domestic and has expanded into the USA and Australia, looking at real-world evidence in primary care COPD datasets, with special interest in lung-function testing and imaging to increase the accuracy of early recognition and diagnosis of COPD. This has included the Advancing the Patient Experience (APEX) in COPD registry, and the Pragmatic Evaluation of an Improvement Programme for People Living with Modifiable High-risk COPD (PREVAIL) trial.
