Medical Writer roles in Oakington, Cambridgeshire (UK), Paya Lebar (Singapore), Brisbane (AUS)

Our dynamic and internationally recognised research company, Observational Pragmatic Research Institute (OPRI) with offices in Norfolk, Oakington, Cambridgeshire (UK), Paya Lebar (Singapore) and Brisbane (AUS) is looking for medical writers.

The position would be suitable for a candidate with at least 5 year’s medical writing experience, although an entry-level writer with a good understanding of clinical research would be considered. Our medical writers are members of the Medical Communications team, which aids in the interpretation and communication of data from large-scale clinical databases and pragmatic clinical trials in the field of chronic diseases in primary care (e.g., asthma, COPD, diabetes).

The team collaborates internally with the Research, Statistics, and Database teams, as well as externally with steering committees (i.e., key opinion leaders), academic partners, not-for-profit social enterprises, medical communication agencies, and pharmaceutical clients. The position is ideally suited for a task- and process-focused team player who can work with minimal supervision and fast turn-around time.

Key responsibilities writing and/or reviewing:

  • Abstracts & posters and oral presentations for scientific congresses
  • Advisory boards, symposia and/or invited speaker lectures for the company director
  • Manuscripts
  • Press releases
  • Physician education pieces
  • Database and clinical trial documents (e.g. study protocols, clinical study reports)


Key skills, qualifications and experience for this role:

  • Education to degree level or higher in a scientific discipline
  • At least 5 years’ medical or scientific writing experience, preferred with 10+ publications especially in real world research
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • Analytical mind; able to interpret data
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Client-oriented and proactive
  • Able to work to tight deadlines
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Familiarity with graphics programmes (SigmaPlot would be desirable)

Contract and Salary

Flexible, part time and remote working will be considered depending the level of experience. Immediate start is available. Salaries are dependent on qualifications and experience.
