Optimum Patient Care (OPC) has been supporting chronic disease management and research in primary care for over 12 years. We are a not-for-profit social enterprise providing a range of services to over 600 GP surgeries across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Our services include clinical audit and review services, IG-compliant data extraction services, and research support services. Our services are provided at no cost to participating practices and freely available to all GP surgeries across the UK. Our anonymised research database – OPC Research Database (OPCRD), is one of the largest electronic health record databases in the world for research use, with over 3.8 million anonymised patients.

We are looking for a Service Manager who can:

  • Oversee our day-to-day operations and service delivery to GP practices and collaborators, including recruitment and retention of practices on the service.
  • Line Manage our service team
  • Liaise with external clients and organisations on service projects.
  • Support with the review, development and promotion of services, with innovative ideas and solutions.
  • Work with medical experts, nursing and managerial colleagues to ensure the high performance of the service.
  • Support with educational initiatives to our service users and collaborators.
  • Represent the organisation at meetings, exhibitions, conference, education workshops and healthcare shows.

Our Service Manager will need:

  • A minimum of one or two years of operational management or service delivery experience.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Experience of supervising or line managing a small team.
  • Logical and methodical thinking with strong problem solving skills.
  • Be well organised and be able to manage competing priorities.
  • Capable of leading and implementing initiatives and ideas.
  • A working knowledge of the NHS or primary care services will be an advantage.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications e.g. Word, Excel and Power-point
  • You will need a full UK Driving License and be willing to travel throughout the UK, including some overnight stays will be required as service needs demand.

  • Salary of £28,000 – £36,000 per annum, depending on prior experience.
